Overview
Stay Out of the Dog House (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates stayoutofdoghouse.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights over it.
Data We Collect
We collect only information you choose to provide:
- Account: email address and display name
- Recipient profiles: names, relationships, birthdays, notes, and gender
- Life events: dates, types, budgets, and reminder preferences
- Gift preferences: interests and hobby tags with preference strengths
- Sizes: clothing, shoe, ring, and hat measurements
- Brand preferences: brands each recipient loves or dislikes
- Sports preferences: sports, favorite teams, and fandom levels
- Past gifts: gift history including occasion, price, and ratings
- Wishlist items: items recipients add via their shared wishlist link
- Payments: billing data processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers
- Feedback: optional in-app ratings and comments
How We Use Your Data
- To operate the service: storing profiles, sending reminders, managing your account
- To generate personalized AI gift recommendations
- To send transactional emails: reminders, confirmations, and password resets
- To process and manage your subscription
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate the app. Data relevant to each service is shared with that provider under their own privacy policies.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Recipient profile data — interests, sizes, brands, past gifts, life events, and notes — is sent to Anthropic's API to generate gift suggestions. Your name and email address are not included in these requests.
Supabase
All application data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Resend
Your email address is shared with Resend to deliver transactional emails such as event reminders, signup confirmations, and password resets.
Stripe
Premium subscription payments are processed directly by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status — never your card details.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or any other commercial purpose.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated feedback may be retained.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format on request
- Opt out of non-essential communications at any time
